A series of cultural and athletic events take place every year which are of interest to locals and guests:

• The International dance festival of Kalamata, which is an event of high standards and has been taking place for 15 years. This festival is organised in July and it is framed by various parallel events.
• Various cultural, theatrical, musical events organised by the municipality of Kardamili.
• The sea in Messinia is ideal for various water sports such as the crossing of the Messinian Gulf which is organised by the Marine Club of Kalamata every year in early September.
• Sailing Competition in the beginning of August.
• Free Diving Competition which takes place in Kalamata every year in June.
• Various trails, paths which will be of interest to hikers.
• A contemporary bicycle path connecting Stoupa and Agios Nikolaos.
